AJ Styles Discusses TNA Bringing In Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff And His Angle With Claire Lynch
December 20, 2015 (21:30) [ Indexed from Wrestling-Edge
AJ Styles recently appeared on The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast to talk about his angle with Claire Lynch and the Hogan/Bischoff era. Here are the highlights.
On the botched and now infamous Claire Lynch Saga in TNA:
You've got to understand that it was going to be a great storyline and the little things that needed to be in the story to make it work weren't. "Claire" had to be the niece of Dixie Carter, that was very important. Because why would AJ care? I would never stick my neck out for someone who was a family friend because what's that got to do with me? Why would you just help them. Where if it was her (Dixie's) niece that the key would be to keep her from bad publicity and I'll make sure that no one knows about it. That was a big deal and also Claire had to be smoking hot. I mean unbelievably hot, to the point where you go "wow, if AJ did have sex with her I don't blame him". That's what we needed to have but it was quite the opposite. So it was the little things that destroyed that momentum that we had and people thought I may be with Dixie and it was a great thing and we had all that momentum and "this Claire" comes out and screws it all up.
How he approached the Hogan/Bischoff ERA in TNA and his reaction to Hulk Hogan's lack of enthusiasm to promote TNA on outside media appearances:
"First of all, I just tried to stay positive. Pretty much anything Hulk Hogan touched at least at the beginning turned to gold. But it didn't obviously because I don't think he knew the roster that was in front of him and that was the problem. The names, the people who were the "brand names" of TNA that they had no idea who they were. If they didn't know who they were they just did whatever they wanted with it. They wanted me to dye my hair blonde and be 'Little Ric' and just because they didn't know me. Instead of being Ric Flair I needed to be AJ Styles with Ric Flair. Being with Ric I'll hopefully get the rub from Ric there is no doubt about that and Fortune could have been great but they broke up Fortune a little bit too early and we were really getting some steam and they broke us up and noting came about it. It was things like that that got weird and Hogan seemed like he didn't have much to do with TNA and seemed like he was embarrassed of the show because he never said anything about TNA at all. Even when he was on shows he just never mentioned it. I believe that he was ashamed of what was on TV. I believe if TNA were doing a lot better he would have been a lot more gung-ho about saying a lot more about it but he didn't say a word and it bothered me but thinking back I understand it now."

Raven On Why He Thought Hogan vs. McMahon Was The Best Match At WrestleMania 19
December 07, 2015 (03:45) [ Indexed from Wrestling-Edge
Former ECW, WCW and TNA star Raven was recently interviewed by Chris Jericho for his Talk Is Jericho podcast. During this interview, Raven talked about why he thought Hulk Hogan vs. Vince McMahon was the best match at WrestleMania 19 and why he left WWE in the early 1990s when he was Johnny Polo. Here are the highlights.
On why he thought Hogan vs. McMahon was the best match at WrestleMania 19:
[Jericho] and Michaels had a phenomenal match, but I still thought that the best match, no offense, on the card was Hulk and Vince because Vinces facials and they didnt have 20 minutes of false finishes. I think they had just a comeback and go home, right? But I remember there was this one spot where Vince picked something up and he peers. Like, his head pops up and hes peering over across the ring and the camera picks it up and Im like, oh, what a shot!'
On why he left WWE in the early 1990s when he was Johnny Polo:
Nobody leaves this company on their own terms. I did, so that was heat. Then, there [were] some other things that I cant get into that were heat and so it was a whole confluence of things that were partially my fault, definitely partially my fault, and just circumstances. They made the policy that talent couldnt sleep with the office people. I was proud of that.

Dave Bautista And Brooke Hogan Starring In A New Movie Together
November 28, 2015 (17:30) [ Indexed from Wrestling-Edge
The following press release was issued to us:
Archstone Distribution has announced that the horror/dark comedy feature film L.A. Slasher, directed by Martin Owen and produced by Jeffrey Wright and Daniel Sollinger, will be available in stores and On Demand in North America December 8, 2015.
We are very excited to take L.A. Slasher to the home video market following its limited theatrical run in AMC Theaters this past July, Archstone Distributions President & CEO Brady Bowen stated. It is a highly entertaining film with a unique voice that we know audiences are going to love!
L.A. Slasher producer Daniel Sollinger remarked, My team and I are thrilled to be working with Archstone, as they have a steady track record for bringing high quality films to audiences worldwide. We are very proud to be on their roster.
With an all-star cast that includes Mischa Barton, Dave Bautista, Danny Trejo, Drake Bell, Eric Roberts, Brooke Hogan, Abigail Wright, Elizabeth Morris, Marisa Lauren, and Andy Dick (in his comeback vehicle), L.A. Slasher (review) is a social satire about reality TV and the glorification of people who are famous for simply being famous. Exploring why it has become acceptable to become an influential star based on no merit or talent, the story follows the titular Slasher character as he systematically abducts these stars, much to the joy of the online public who view his exploits via social media, and who subsequently and enthusiastically support his mantra of Death to Reality TV.
Already a recipient of multiple awards on the film festival circuit, the film will be on shelves at Walmart and Best Buy among others, and is currently available for pre-order via Amazon. Disc extras for L.A. Slasher include a deleted scene and feature-length commentary with director Owen, director of photography Chase Bowman, and host Richard Trejo.
L.A. Slasher is also set for its digital debut via Amazon Video, Blockbuster On Demand, CinemaNow, Google Play, Hoopla, iTunes, Microsoft Movies & TV Store, PlayStation Store, and VUDU and will be available in millions of homes On Demand.
For more info visit LASlasherMovie.com, and also follow the film on Facebook and Twitter.

Former WCW star On WCWs TV Ratings, His Role In The Company, And Goldberg vs. Hogan
November 27, 2015 (19:30) [ Indexed from Wrestling-Edge
Former ECW/WCW star Johnny Swinger recently appeared on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling. Here are the highlights.
WCW management not settling for the terrible ratings WWE has today:
"We were doing mid 2's on the Saturday Night TV show and they were getting hot about it. They told us that we needed to get back over 3 and you think about now, things have really changed. I had so many matches that were ten to twenty minutes sometimes and when can you get that kind of exposure. Now you have like a minute. TV time is everything, if you are on TV for ten minutes you are worth something. I had a lot of TV time with a lot of great stars. I wrestled DDP when he was getting that big push against the nWo, had some really nice matches with Rey Mysterio and Kidman and guys that were really over with the people. It was just a really good experience there in WCW."
Why his role in WCW was so important:
"JJ Dillon had hired me and he gave me like two or three raises while I was there. I wasn't getting a push but I was getting raises and the reason he told me I was is because I made the most of every minute that I get on TV and he said that is what he was trying to teach all these guys. Everyone wants to go to the top but you can't have a show with just the "top", there needs to be underneath people that have talent. If people are just going to turn the channel and watch RAW there were a lot of times that I was in that match at the nine o'clock hour and if I wasn't any good they wouldn't be putting me on that spot and that's the way I felt about it at the time. At any point they could do something with me. I was friends with DDP and he started getting in my ear about maybe I should get out of there and go down to Paul E."
Wrestling on Bill Goldberg vs. Hulk Hogan Monday Nitro at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta:
"I still live in Atlanta so every time I go downtown all I say is; WOW, I can't believe that I wrestled there in front of all those people and I use that story a lot of times to defend Goldberg. I was there that night and I made sure I went out into the crowd during that match and when he beat Hogan I never heard the roar of a crowd like that in my life. The guy was unbelievably over and just to stand there and be apart of the company at that point and be in the middle of that was really awesome. Nothing has ever really come close to that even with the other companies, I don't know what happened after I left but up until late 99 it was pretty hot."

Triple H Hopes To Bring Back Hulk Hogan To The WWE One Day
November 20, 2015 (17:30) [ Indexed from Wrestling-Edge
During his appearance on the Greg and the Morning Buzz show on Thursday morning, Triple H was asked if he could see a day when Hulk Hogan is brought back to WWE. Here is what he had to say:
For me I hope so.
Its about reinvigorating his brand and him as a human being and the confidence within the world as to who he is. But the one thing about people, in general, when somebody is on top they love to see him fall and when they fall they love to see him make that comeback. Theyre great stories, and I think thats where people are.
Do I think he can be forgiven and make amends with the world and move forward? Yeah absolutely. But at the same point in time for us in that time frame youre putting up a message to the world of how youll tolerate things and how youll react to things. We did what we needed to do, and hell do what he needs to do to get himself back.
To me, at the end of the day for him, how hes perceived by the world, him as a human being, Im sure is a lot more important to him than anything else. And re-establishing who he is as a human being Im sure is of utmost important to him and Im sure hes going to do it and when he does, well go from there.
